I have just finished my second year student at the University of Exeter who received A's/A* at both GCSE and A Level. I am currently studying for a Bachelors Degree in Geography and have previous experience working in a primary schools, a summer camp with 6-15 year old girls as well as tutoring on Edumentors and privately for over a year. As a social sciences student at Durham University, I am uniquely equipped to combine a holistic approach and a more in-depth approach to my tutoring, depending on the individual learning style of each student. I can tutor students of a wide range of abilities, from beginner to advanced, in French and English Literature, having achieved A*s and 9’s in both subjects at A-Level and GCSE, respectively. I can also tutor English Language up to GCSE standard, having achieved grade 9 when I sat the exam. I graduated from Wycombe Abbey School in 2023, where I obtained twelve 9’s and an 8 in my GCSEs, and four A*s at A-Level. I have done a range of informal tutoring for GCSE and Common Entrance, and have also volunteered as an English Teaching Assistant in a local primary school. From my personal experience of being slightly less confident in certain subjects and from tutoring others, I found I really enjoy helping students achieve their full potential and boosting their confidence, especially in subjects that may not come naturally to them. I am conscious that everyone has their own unique learning style, so I will tailor my lesson plan to each student’s personal aims in order to make sessions engaging and interactive. I have full working proficiency in French, and can provide assistance with all aspects of the exam, including listening, reading, writing and grammar. Having completed several intensive language courses in France, one of my strengths as a French tutor lies in conversation practice - I can therefore also help with the oral exam, including the Independent Research Project, implementing complex sentence structures, presentation technique and using sophisticated vocabulary. While I can tutor for all exam specifications, I will be of particular use in AQA A-Level and AQA GCSE, as these are the exam boards I sat at school. For English Literature, I can cover a wide range of skills such as essay technique, text analysis (play, book, or poem), grammar and language. While I can tutor a wide variety of texts depending on the exam board, I can provide specialised knowledge in the following texts: Hamlet, The Great Gatsby, The Grapes of Wrath, The Duchess of Malfi, Paradise Lost, A Streetcar Named Desire, Purple Hibiscus, The Crucible, Jane Eyre, and Romeo and Juliet. I can provide support with a broad range of resources and key skills, especially with the CIE GCSE and the OCR A-Level specifications. For English Language, I can also provide useful resources and support with all aspects of the exam paper, including comprehension, grammar and the extended writing section. As I sat the CIE GCSE exam, I can provide specialised knowledge of this specification.

Hi I'm Esme Rose Mathialahan, and I'm a third year undergraduate at the University of York studying English Literature. I have four years tutoring experience and have worked with a range of ages and abilities. I have a high success rate, with students achieving top grades of 8 & 9. Two students this year, in particular, progressed from a working grade of a 4 to a 9 and another from a 5 to an 8 - in their GCSE Literature exam. My name is Fagun and I am a third year university student, studying international business. Having achieved an A* in A Level English Literature and a grade 9 in IGCSE English Language and Literature, I draw on my own exam experience to guide students towards success. I help them break down questions, structure their essays effectively, and write with clarity and confidence. I am experienced with the Edexcel and Cambridge exam boards for IGCSE, as well as the OCR exam board for A Levels, and I tailor my teaching to meet the specific requirements of each. At GCSE level, I achieved grade 9s in all of my Humanities subjects, including English Language, English Literature, and History. Passionate about education, language, and the ways in which they interact in our everyday lives, I pursued the study of English Literature, History, and Psychology at A Level, alongside completing an EPQ. Achieving an A* in History and full marks in my English Literature coursework, I chose to continue my study of English at university. Throughout the past three years, I have worked formally as a tutor for both English Language GCSE and English Literature GCSE. I graduated with a First from Oxford last year for my undergraduate History BA. I am really passionate about teaching and this year I have engaged in a variety of teaching roles, including volunteering as an English teacher for 3 months in Nepal.
